How can kids help HSGC? We are always in need of volunteers of all sizes. There are many ways kids from eight and up can help our critters. Past involvement and future ideas include:
- Youth Groups which have come to our facility to bathe dogs, wash dog houses, paint and landscape.
- Boy Scout Troops have made signs to direct customers to our kennel. Eagle scouts can build out-buildings or dog houses.
- School classes or school groups can hold fundraising events or product drives to benefit our animals.
- Girl Scout troops can make dog treats to give as gifts on special holidays.
- Individuals can help us at PETCO to adopt out our animals, bell ring in front of stores, help sell items at fundraising or public awareness drives and help us with our kennel software and Internet sites.
- Help us walk dogs in parades.
There are unlimited ways to help us no matter what age!
Let's not forget the most important thing — human contact. We have more than 60 dogs and more than 40 cats. Each wants a loving home with hugs and kisses. Until we can find that home, we need volunteers to socialize and love on our animals. It costs absolutely nothing, has no age barrier and requires no skill to pet the heads and stroke the backs of our animals.
