All potential adopters are extensively interviewed so they may be matched with an ideal pet for their lifestyle, living space, schedule, budget, and more. To begin the adoption process, you will talk with one of our adoption counselors who will discuss your particular situation and recommend a pet that will best suit your lifestyle.

Some things to think about:
  • If you live in an apartment where pets are allowed, you may find that a large gentle dog is easier to care for than a small lap dog. If you have children, their ages will be key to what breed of dog might be most suitable.
  • If you already have a pet at home and are looking for an addition to the family, be sure to think about how the two will get along and what kind of arrangements you'll need to make to keep them separated while at work or away from the house.
  • If you live close to a busy street, you'll need to have a fenced in yard so your pet can get some exercise.
  • Our Adoption Counselors will assist you with these and many other questions when you are ready to adopt.
